AMA Motocross Series Comes to an End in Pennsylvania
Delmont, PA - August 30, 2008
The AMA Motocross series came to a conclusion over the holiday weekend at Steel City MX Park in Delmont, Pennsylvania. Division 7/Star Racing/NCY/Yamaha went out with one of its most successful races of the season, seeing both Matt Lemoine and Broc Tickle achieve new things for the first time in their career.
The big highlight came out of Lemoine in moto one, taking the holeshot award, he then settled into 4th on lap two. Riding at his best and only dropping one position, 5th, Lemoine held the pace of the leaders through the halfway mark which enabled him to capitalize on other competitor’s mistakes. Lap nine saw the Yamaha pilot takeover 4th, and then on the very next lap he made a clean pass into 3rd. At this point he showed strength by finding his lines and breaking away. With three laps remaining, he not only closed in on 2nd place, but took the spot and marched on to his first podium appearance. Also in moto one, the rest of the Star squad all came out pretty well with Tickle 9th, Moss 10th, and Hahn 11th.
In moto two, it was again Lemoine and Tickle who acquired good starts and continued on riding outstandingly through the race. Early on Lemoine paced himself in 7th until the midway point when he made a sprint and took over 5th. Meanwhile, Tickle raced up to the back of his teammate, applying the pressure to him and the rider in fourth. In return, with three laps to go Lemoine's luck ran out as a bobble turned into big get off, taking him out of the race all together. Fortunately, Tickle kept it together, allowing him to net a career best finish in 4th, which gave him his best ever overall as well. On the positive and riding strongly in moto two, Hahn passed a dozen riders claiming 12th and Moss finished out in 14th.
